Soulines Dostoyevsky DCX Turntable

Dostoyevsky DCX was conceived as a "classic" turntable, wooden square box with platter and tone-arm on the top. Idea was to build around "classical turntable look" while incorporating design and engineering required for great sounding turntable.

The bearing is the heart of every turntable, "everything spins around bearing". Dostoyevsky DCX incorporate the same inverted main bearing made from solid brass and stainless steel, as is used in our more advanced models Hermes DCX and Kubrick DCX. It is extremely high precision machined and employs Derlin thrust plate.

Chassis is made from the three 20mm thick layers of Baltic Birch plywood, bonded together, and it is a two box design, main plinth and motor unit. The remotely sited motor unit with drive motor, electronic controller and switches, is practical solution to ensure vibration isolation of the main plinth. Main plinth and motor unit are supported by small silicon-rubber feet providing optimum coupling to the surface, and good vibration transmitting control.

While looking "square" and simple from the outside, the main plinth employs advanced vibration control design, by means of different curved triangular openings in the two lower plywood layers.

Drive mechanism utilizes high quality DC motor optimized for turntable use. Along with an easy operation and fine speed adjustment feature, electronically controlled power supply provides stable current for smooth motor rotation.

The platter, 40mm thick and weighing 2.6kg is machined from PTE to very high accuracy and ensures good speed stability.

Acrylic (Perspex) dust cover, the SA cover, high-performance rubber-cork mat and the Protractor LP - a cartridge alignment tool are supplied as standard.

Dostoyevsky DCX can be specified and delivered with the Soulines KiVi, a 9" uni-pivot, tone-arm fitted.
